Vitamin A Deficiency
Vitamin A is a nutrient which is important to vision, cell division, growth, reproduction and immunity. It also has antioxidant properties, which can protect cells against the effects of free radicals, which play a role in the development of diseases such as heart disease and cancer. A deficiency of Vitamin A may lead to night blindness, cornea degeneration and impaired immunity. It is not produced by the body and must be obtained from diet.
