Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids
Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) are involved in cholesterol metabolism. They are healthy fats which can help to lower LDL (bad) cholesterol in the body, so that it does not clog the arteries. PUFAs include omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which are essential for cell growth and various body functions. These fatty acids can only be obtained from food, as the body does not produce them.
