LDL Cholesterol
Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) in blood is the major carrier of cholesterol. It functions to transport cholesterol to tissues to be used for membrane construction or for conversion into other metabolites. LDL cholesterol (LDL-C) is considered to be ‘bad’ cholesterol. Measures of LDL are used to assess the risk of atherosclerosis, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
