An Overview

Maple syrup urine disease is an inherited disorder where the body is unable to process certain amino acids properly. This disease causes the urine to have an odor which is similar to that of maple syrup. It is most commonly detected during infancy; however, other variants have been seen in older individuals. If left untreated, maple syrup urine disease can result in seizures, coma and death.

Vomiting
